Aug 14 management of Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine met with participants in “Commonwealth” youth camp
The camp was organized by the Irkutsk division of the Russian Youth Union on Olhon island, Lake Baikal, under a grant program of the Rosatom Public Council.
The chairman of the Trade Union of AECC Aleksey Martynov summed up the results of the summer recreation season 2007. He said that this year the company spent over 6mln RUR on the holidays of the children of its employees.
767 children have spent their holidays at the Cosmonaut Heroes Camp in the last two years. 227 of them have undergone preventive treatment. A team of doctors examined the children, consulted them and involved them in conditioning exercises.
150 children visited the “Commonwealth” camp this year. 61 of them were the children of AECC employees. They took part in master classes on ecology, excursions, sports games, clean-up actions.
“We were a bit worried that the parents might dislike our idea. In fact, their children were placed in extreme conditions: they ate “field” cuisine, washed with cold water, spent whole days hiking. But when we saw tears in their eyes when we were parting we understood that everything was fine. So, we hope to organize similar camp next year too,” says the author of the project, the head of the regional division of the Russian Youth Union Alexander Popov.
During the meeting the children showed pictures about their life on Olhon. Some of them will be sent to the archives of the Trade Union of AECC and the Information Center of Rosatom. At the end of the meeting, the management of AECC showed a film about the company.
Director General of AECC Viktor Shopen told the children about the history of his plant and its current social programs. “Education of the growing generation, care for their physical and moral health is a priority for any adult. Our future – the welfare of our city and country — is in the hands of our children,” Shopen said.
