Management of Leningrad NPP congratulate the employees of the plant and the residents of Sosnovy Bor on the Day of the National Flag of Russia
Today, we have few national holidays and patriotic traditions. The Day of the National Flag of the Russian Federation is one of them.
Such holidays help to bring us together and to feel ourselves a great nation.
We are proud of our great country and this day is one more occasion for each of us to show his love for his city and country and to feel himself part of the past and present of Russia.
That’s why I would like to congratulate the employees of the plant and their families on the Day of the National Flag of the Russian Federation. We would also like to congratulate our veterans and youth.
Present-day Russia is founding new traditions and Russian nuclear power engineers have always been among the founders.
Director of Leningrad NPP V.I.Lebedev
Note
The decree on the institution of the Day of the National Flag of the Russian Federation was signed by the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin on Aug 20 1995.
The white-blue-red flag was first introduced in Russia on Apr 9 1668 under Tsar Aleksey Mikhaylovich for the Russian navy in the Caspian Sea. Peter I made it legal on Jan 20 1705. The red strip symbolized the earth (material world), the blue strip – the heaven (immaterial world), the white strip — the god (divine world). In XIX the colors began to symbolize the friendship of the three eastern Slavonic nations – Byelorussians, Ukrainians and Russians. Today, the colors stand for peace and purity (white), faith and permanence (blue) and energy, strength and blood shed in the name of Fatherland (red).
