Turbine generator 9 of unit 3 of Novovoronezh NPP was restarted on Aug 29 11:46 PM after repairs

The unit was stopped on May 22 for 40-day planned preventive repairs. However, during the repairs the personnel detected a problem that required more time: cracks in the welded joints of steam generator 1.

It was the first time such a problem had occurred at an NPP. It required new technique and expertise of research companies. As a result, the period of the repairs was extended. 

Presently, unit 4 of Novovoronezh NPP is operating at full capacity, unit 5 is under repairs, turbine generator 10 of unit 3 is being prepared for restart.

The radiation background in the 30-km zone is within norm.
