On Sept 11 TVEL supplied low-enriched nuclear fuel to BBP-M research reactor of Dalat Nuclear Research Institute (Vietnam)
The fuel was supplied in the framework of the Russian-US Reduced Enrichment for Research and Test Reactors Program (RERTR) in line with the ¹ DE-AC52–07NA27485 contract signed by TVEL, US Department of Energy and Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission on Mar 14 2007. The new fuel (20%-enriched uranium-235) will help to enhance the safety of the reactor and to reduce the treat of terrorism.
This is not the first time TVEL has supplied low-enriched fuel under the above program. In 2005 the company supplied such fuel to VR-1 Vrabec research reactor of Ceske vysoke uceni technicke v Praze (Czech Technical University in Prague) and the research reactor of Tajoura Nuclear Research Centre in Libya.
The fuel has been produced by Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrate Plant, a company incorporated into TVEL.
