Over 100 schoolchildren from Polyarnye Zori have taken part in ecological clean-ups

Sept 14–19 2007 the Information Department of Kola NPP conducted clean-ups of the shore of Lake Imandra

Over 100 school-children took part in them.

In early June Kola NPP conducted a mass ecological action. The over 250 nuclear power engineers collected tons of litter and prepared the beaches for the summer season. Scuba divers cleaned up the plant’s discharge canal 

Lake Imandra is a traditional recreation area for local residents. The management of the plant have decided to restore its natural beauty and to make it an active place for tourism and recreation. School-leavers are taking an active part in the campaign.

Deputy Director of Kola NPP Igor Kutuzov says that the campaign is not only restoring the nature of the area but is also teaching children to care for the environment.

The number of participants in constantly growing. This year over 2,000 school-children from Polyarnye Zori have taken part in the ecological actions organized by Kola NPP.
