Balakovo NPP has adopted a public awareness policy

The document says that the objective of the plant’s public awareness policy is to shape a positive image among the public, NGOs, executive and legislative authorities and mass media.

The policy is implemented in the following directions:

• work with the population of the city and the region
• work with mass media
• work with NGOs
• work with executive and legislative authorities
• work with the personnel

The policy is aimed at:

• popularizing nuclear power engineering
• explaining the key provisions of the Federal Target Program for the Development of the Nuclear Power Industry of Russia in 2007–2010 and -2015
• assuring the public that Balakovo NPP and the nuclear power industry of Russia are safe
• showing the significance of Balakovo NPP for Balakovo district and Saratov region – Balakovo NPP is the biggest tax payer
• shaping the image of Balakovo NPP as a socially oriented enterprise, a company actively developing culture, education, sports, health care, caring for veterans and youths, engaged in benevolent activities
• ensuring that mass media provide unbiased coverage of the plant’s work

The management of Balakovo NPP pledge to provide the public and mass media with objective, quick and detailed information about its work and guarantee its transparency and accessibility as they firmly believe that such a policy will contribute to the development of Russia’s nuclear power industry in line with the decisions of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation.
