5th Folk Festival “Living Spring” sets off in Desnogorsk

The 5th folk festival “Living Spring” set off in Desnogorsk, the satellite city of Smolensk NPP, on Sept 20 2007

The festival will last for three days.

A total of 250 people are taking part in the festival: employees of all 10 REA nuclear power plants and their children.

Among the participants are well-known groups – the winners of numerous international and national competitions: Cascade folk circus from Novovoronezh NPP, Khmel folk ensemble from Leningrad NPP, Assol and Zhemchuzhny Khorovod from Balakovo NPP, Desnogorskiye Zori from Smolensk NPP.

The ceremony was opened by the ensemble of veterans of Smolensk NPP “Harmony.”

Rosenergoatom deputy director general for youth policy Oleg Zheltov welcomed the participants. He informed the audience that the first festival took place in 1999 on the initiative of Rosenergoatom’s president Erik Pozdyshev. “Today we are opening the 5th festival. We perfectly understand that development is impossible without culture. The future of this festival is in the children that have come today to perform for you. As long as we have such talented children we have future.” 

The following show was perfect. Everybody performed excellently. It was a real holiday for our residents.
