Nerpa ship-repair plant is launching an automatic radioactive waste control system RAMMSIS

The press service of Nerpa reports that the system will help the company to effectively control its radioactive waste. Particularly, the system collects, processes and stores information about the quantity, location and state of radioactive waste at the plant and in its long-term reactor blocks storage facility.

The system has been designed by Kurchatov Institute and is based on RAMMSIS technology (RAMMSIS consortium (Germany)). It has been tailored to Nerpa’s needs and conditions. The RAMMSIS project is financed by Germany in the framework of Global Cooperation international program and is worth 2mln EUR. The launch of the system is scheduled for 2008. Nerpa has already created an infrastructure for solid and liquid waste recording.
