Liquidation of technological basin is under control of ecologists

On Nov 14 the managers of Mining Chemical Combine met with ecologists of Krasnoyarsk region

The key topic of the meeting was the liquidation of technological basin #354.

The development of the basin was stopped in 1978. In 1992–1993 the basin was partially filled. Presently, the combine has resumed the work. In three years the basin is supposed to be turned into “a green field.”

The managers of the combine told the ecologists about the project. The guests visited the basin and monitored its radiation. They were satisfied with the work done so far and with the combine’s general ecological policy.

The ecologists represented the Public Committee of the Ecological Movement (Nikolay Nikolayev) and the Civil Center for Nuclear Nonproliferation (Vladimir Mikheyev and Anatoly Mamayev). The guests met with the director general of MCC Pyotr Gavrilov. The sides exchanged views and pointed out the importance of cooperation.
