The headquarters for the construction of Novovoronezh NPP-2 met on Nov 15
The vice governor of Voronezh region Alexander Tsapin, the head of the Capital Construction Department of Rosatom Alexander Tutiayev, the head of the administration of Novovoronezh Sergey Akimov, the chief state sanitarian for Novovoronezh Tatiana Sokolova, the manager of the project of the Directorate for Development of Rosenergoatom Concern Konstantin Gorbachyov, the director of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant Vyacheslav Vikin took part in the meeting.
The meeting was led by the director general of Atomenergoproekt FSUE Vladimir Generalov.
The conferees discussed the plans for 2008. All of them pointed out that the Novovoronezh NPP-2 project is important for both Rosatom and Voronezh region. Mext year the project will get as much as 18bln RUR and Rosatom and the authorities of Voronezh region will have even more work to do than they had this year.
In 2008 the sub-contractor organizations are supposed to carry out technologically complex operations, particularly, to build the base plate, the underground part of the reactor compartment of unit 1, the auxiliary reactor building, evaporative cooling towers, main and auxiliary buildings; to mount weight lifting equipment; to start laying cable tunnels and water pipes.
The conferees also discussed the current activities for vertical area planning, recruitment of new sub-contractor organizations, rate and quality of construction and installation work at Kamenno-Verkhovsky water supply complex, construction of temporary housing for constructors.
As of now, a total of 14 sub-contractor organizations are working on the site. Next year the general contractor, Atomenergoproekt, is planning to make sub-contracts with 10 more companies.
Generalov said that new sub-contracts substantially enhanced the efficiency of the work in Sept and Oct. Over 700mln RUR has been spent since the launch of the project.
Almost 600 people and 300 vehicles are working on the site at present. Next year the general contractor is planning to increase the number of workers to 1,500.
Over 90% of the equipment necessary for the Kamenno-Verkhovsky water supply complex has already been supplied: armature, pumps, ventilators, cranes. In Nov Atomenergoproekt is expecting to receive transformers for transformer substation and automated diesel power plant.
By the end of this year Atomenergoproekt is planning to build a temporary town for 3,000 people. The first two-storied houses of the town are supposed to be ready in Jan 2008. The town will have all necessary infrastructure.
On May 29 2007 Atomenergoproekt won an open tender for the construction of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant-2. In June 2007 the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy and Atomenergoproekt signed a state contract for the construction of the first and second units of Novovoronezh NPP-2. The units are supposed to be launched in 2010 and 2013, respectively. The total cost of the project is 130bln RUR.
Thus, Atomenergoproekt is the first Rosatom engineering company to have won the right to build a nuclear power plant under the federal target program for the development of the nuclear industry of Russia in 2007–2010 and -2015.
Novovoronezh NPP-2 is based on Atomenergoproekt’s NPP-2006 project with WWER 1200 reactor. This is an evolutionary project based on the technological solutions of NPP-92. The project is very safe and meets all the EU standards.
