Atomstroyexport has taken part in the 1st international conference “NPP Construction”
The 1st International Conference “NPP Construction” took place in Moscow on Nov 26 2007. Managers and specialists of a number of Russian and foreign nuclear companies took part in the conference.
During the plenary session, the first vice president of Atomstroyexport CJSC Alexander Glukhov made a report on the participation of Russian companies in international NPP construction projects (prospects and experience).
Glukhov told the conferees about the major projects Atomstroyexport is implementing abroad in cooperation with Russian and foreign partners: Tianwan NPP in China (the 1st and 2nd units were commissioned in 2007), Kudankulam NPP in India, Bushehr NPP in Iran and Belene NPP in Bulgaria.
Tianwan NPP with two WWER-1000 reactors has become the first nuclear power plant in the world to fully comply with the safety requirements of the third generation of nuclear power plants. On Nov 6 2007 Russia and China concluded a framework agreement for joint construction of the 3rd and 4th units of Tianwan NPP.
“During the transition period of late XX, NPP construction projects abroad helped our nuclear industry to preserve its design, industrial and personnel potential. Today, our industry is actively strengthening its positions on the world NPP construction market,” Glukhov said.
He pointed out that NPP construction abroad is one of the key elements of Russia’s high-tech export. The most promising markets are China, India, Central and Eastern Europe. Atomstroyexport’s potential portfolio of orders amounts to no less than $25bln.
Atomstroyexport is the leading Russian organization implementing contracts for the construction of nuclear power plants abroad. After the launch of two units of Tianwan NPP in China, ASE continues the construction of Kudankulam NPP in India, Bushehr NPP in Iran and Belene NPP in Bulgaria.
