Emergency response training at Beloyarsk NPP

Planned emergency response exercise is being conducted at Beloyarsk NPP, today, Nov 27 2007

The subject of the exercise is Response to Off-Design Accident at Unit 3. “Off-design accident” is an accident that may happen once in 100,000 years.

The trainees are employees of Beloyarsk NPP, medical sanitary station #32 of Zarechny, the Crisis Center of Rosenergoatom Concern and emergency response experts.

The objective of the exercise is to enhance the preparedness of the personnel of Beloyarsk NPP for emergencies and to improve their actions for saving people and providing them with first aid.

Experts say that the probability of an accident at the Russian nuclear power plants is 1 to 10,000,000. Nevertheless, the plants conduct regular exercises for enhancing the emergency preparedness of their personnel.
