Best electric and gas welder works at Smolensk NPP

Rosenergoatom’s Best Electric and Gas Welder 2007 contest took place at Kursk NPP on Nov 29

Representatives of all nuclear power plants of Rosenergoatom Concern – the winners of the preliminary rounds – took part in the final. The objective of the Best in Profession contest is to reveal the best in their professions and to make their achievements and experience known to their colleagues.

The final consisted of two rounds: theory and practice. The welders had to answer theoretical questions and then to carry out combined welding of austentic steel pipes in fixed position with the roots welded by argon arc method. The results of the welding were checked up in the Metal and Quality Control Laboratory of Kursk NPP.

The best was Igor Bessarabov from Smolensk NPP, the second Alexander Baybakov from Kursk NPP, the third Alexander Shlykov from Kola NPP and Pavel Bursin from Leningrad NPP.

Andrey Silin from Beloyarsk NPP was the best in manual arc covered electrode welding, Alexander Navoyev from Volgodonsk NPP in manual arc uncovered electrode welding

All the contestants were granted presents and certificates.
