On Dec 15 the Volgodonsk public organization of invalids of Chernobyl accident and other radiation disasters “Liquidator” marked its 15th birthday

Representatives of the administration of Volgodonsk and the city’s big companies, including Volgodonsk Nuclear Power Plant, attended the celebrations.

On Dec 15 representatives of Liquidator visited Volgodonsk Nuclear Power Plant. The deputy head of the plant’s Information Department Viktor Bashkatov told the guests about the plant and its performance.

The guests asked lots of questions. None of them had seen a WWER-1000 before. They were impressed with the order and cleanness of the 1st unit of the plant and the competence of the local personnel.

The chairman of Liquidator A.Formin thanked the management of Volgodonsk NPP for the chance to visit the plant: “We have seen with our own eyes the most nuclear reactor and the processes that take place in it. We have seen the control board and have understood that the safety of our reactors have been substantially enhanced after Chernobyl. Today, our NPPs are so safe that we can be sure of their future.”

This year the President of Russia presented two members of Liquidator with the Order of Courage, five members with the medal of the Order for Service to Fatherland, three members with the medal for courage, 57 members with the medal for rescuing perishing people.
