Rosatom has set up a company for innovative water technologies

In the framework of its strategy for establishing innovative venture businesses and in compliance with the decision of the head of Rosatom, Atom Innovation Center has set up “Water Technologies of “Atomenergoprom”” (WTA) — a company that is supposed to design new technologies in the field of water, wastewater and liquid radioactive waste treatment. Alexander Katsay has been appointed as director general of the company.

WTA is supposed to carry out innovative projects for production water treatment equipment for traditional and nuclear power plants, other companies and the sphere of public services. The company has been provided with Rosatom’s best existing water treatment technologies. Presently, WTA is designing a water treatment technology for a company producing paints.

The company is planning a number of projects for designing a wide range of modern water treatment technologies for the industry and the population. In the near future WTA is planning to set up a holding for cooperation with Rosatom companies on production of components for water treatment systems, design of ecologically friendly and economically efficient water purification systems, delivery and installation of equipment, designer’s service, maintenance. In 2008 the company is planning to test and certify generic modules of water treatment equipment designed on the basis of membrane technologies and meant for traditional and nuclear power plants.

During “Atomeco-2007” fair of ecological innovations, independent experts recognized the WTA project the best in “Water and Liquid Radioactive Waste Treatment” nomination.

Atom Innovation Center was established by the head of Rosatom in 2005 on the basis of one of the departments of TsNIIATOMINFORM FSUE for commercializing civil projects of Rosatom’s scientific-technological complex. The founder of the company is VNIIAES OJSC.
