Russian Antarctic Polar Station “Progress” congratulates staff of LNPP on Day of Power Engineers

18.12.2007 // Information Department of Leningrad NPP

52nd Russian Antarctic Expedition, Russian Antarctic Polar Station “Progress” has congratulated the staff of Leningrad NPP on the Day of Power Engineer

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the whole staff of the Russian Antarctic Polar Station “Progress,” I would like to congratulate you on your professional holiday, the Day of Power Engineer, and on the coming New Year. We, the most southern builders on the Earth, wish you happiness and health.

Even though, I, Sergey Kovalyov, am no longer employee of Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, I still consider myself your colleague. Presently, as part of the Special Construction Detachment of SMU 2 Testa 16 CJSC, I am installing electric equipment and automated control systems at the new diesel power plant of the Technical and Energy Support Complex of RAS ”Progress.”

This complex is the biggest Russian facility in Antarctica so far. Please, find attached the photos we have sent to you as our New Year presents. One of them pictures the flag of Leningrad NPP against the background of one of the biggest colonies of emperor penguins near the Prudes Bay (Princess Elizabeth Land, Eastern Antarctica); the other one — the Russian Antarctic Polar Station “Novolazarevskaya” (Queen Maud Land).

I would like to say that we have told a lot about Leningrad NPP to our colleagues from Chinese “ZhongShan” base and Australian “Davis” station. We have given them booklets and badges and have shown them the movie about all Russian nuclear power plants made by the Press Center of the Nuclear Power Industry.

We are sending you our warm greetings from the cold south.

Sergey Kovalyov
