Nuclear energy as seen by children

The results of literary and children’s ecological contests were summed up at Kalinin NPP on Dec 19 2007

The results of the literary contest “Nuclear Energy: From the Past to the Future” and the contest of children’s ecological drawings “My Small Homeland” were summed up at Kalinin NPP on Dec 19 2007.

The objective of the literary contest was to familiarize schoolchildren with scientific literature about history, prospects and peculiarities of peaceful use of nuclear energy. 16 children from Udomlia, Udomlia district, Sonkov and Vyshny Volochok took part in the contest. They presented different aspects of nuclear energy; some children wrote about outstanding figures of the nuclear industry, others — about their parents working at Kalinin NPP.

The essay of S.Pushkina — “At the Roots of Nuclear Physics” — was proclaimed the best among the pupils of ninth form, the composition of O.Kudryashova – “Kalinin NPP: Its Past and Present” – among the pupils of eleventh form.

Over 130 drawings by children from 3 to 12 took part in the children’s ecological contest.

The key assessment criteria were idea, content, age, originality, novelty. F.Kozlov and Zh.Kostova won among the children under 6, N.Shkulepo and M.Ovcharenko – among the children from 7 to 9, P.Anoshko and T.Tikhonenko – in the group from 10 to 12. All children were granted presents.
