The key stages of the construction of unit 4 of Kalinin NPP in 2008 have been outlined

The operational headquarters for the construction of unit 4 of Kalinin NPP have met in Udomlia to sum up the results of 2007 and to outline the key tasks for 2008.

Representatives of Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant, the general contractor of the project Nizhniy Novgorod Atomenergoproekt (NIAEP) and sub-contractor organizations coordinated the schedule for preparation of working documentation in 2007 and for delivery of equipment in Jan-Mar 2008. 

In his report the representative of Nizhniy Novgorod Atomenergoproekt OJSC (the general contractor of the project) Vladimir Pushkaryov said they had already made contracts for the supply of long-term cycle and basic equipment.

The deputy director of Kalinin NPP Viktor Suchkov outlined the key stages of the project in 2008: the construction of the reactor containment to the 51st level, the framework and wall cladding of the machine compartment, the base ring of the cooling towers, the evacuation motor road, etc..

In conclusion, the director of NIAEP Valery Limarenko said that 2008 would be crucial for the project: “We have to build all the basic facilities to be able to start specific operations in 2009. All the contractor organizations are aware of their tasks and ready to fulfill them.”
