Leningrad NPP, today, on the eve of the Day of Power Engineer
The 1st unit of Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant was launched 34 years ago. Since then the four units of the plant have generated a total of 736.087bln KWh.
Since the beginning of this year Leningrad NPP has produced 23.828bln KWh with the plan for the year being 24.210bln KWh. Since Dec 1 the plant has generated 1.484bln KWh.
Presently, units 1, 2 and 4 are operating safely at a total capacity of 3060MW.
Unit 3 has been under repair for 153 days already. The objective is to modernize the unit and to extent its service life.
The radiation situation at Leningrad NPP, in Sosnovy Bor and its suburbs is within norm, which proves that the plant is safe.
The maximum radiation background in the 30-km zone monitored by the plant’s automated radiation control system is 13 mSvh.

Since Apr 1 2002 Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant has been the branch of Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Russian State Concern for Production of Electric and Thermal Power at Nuclear Power Plants” (Rosenergoatom Concern).
The plant has four units with RBMK-1000 reactors with a total capacity of 4000 MW. It employs 5,977 people: 5,635 industrial and 342 non-industrial employees and pays them 26,695 RUR a month: 27,306 RUR to industrial personnel and 11,380 RUR to non-industrial personnel.
In 2006 LNPP produced 23.178bln KWh against planned 21.330bln KWh. 21.198bln KWh were supplied to the energy system of Russia.
