The first unit of Smolensk NPP was accepted for operation 25 years ago, on Dec 25 1982

Since then, Smolensk NPP has operated safely and has produced almost 420bln KWh.

During an official celebration on Dec 22, the management of the plant granted medals, letters of gratitude, certificates and titles to dozens of employees. Over 600 workers and pensioners of the plant have been granted government and Rosatom awards.

In 2007 Smolensk NPP was granted ISO 9001:2000 – it is the first Russian nuclear power plant to have been granted the certificate. Companies having such a certificate enjoy trust of partners and public.

This year’s maintenance campaign lasted 20 days less than planned due to high professionalism and efficiency of the repair personnel. As a result, the plant produced additional 1.600bln KWh.

This year Smolensk NPP has paid special attention to personnel training: 4,174 employees have been trained, 588 managers and specialists – attested.

In Nov Smolensk NPP hosted a partner inspection of WANO Moscow Center. The experts pointed out the high efficiency of the plant and said that its positive experience can be applied at NPPs worldwide.
