Staff of Bilibino NPP has celebrated the Day of Power Engineer

For 34 years already the workers of Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant have been stably producing electricity and heat. So, they consider the Day of Power Engineer to be their professional holiday and celebrate it every year.

On Dec 21 the management and the staff of the plant officially marked the holiday.

Director of Bilibino NPP Farit Tukhvertov opened the official ceremony. He congratulated his workers and guests on the holiday, pointed out the key achievements of 2007 and outlined priority tasks for 2008.

The deputy general director-the technical director of Rosenergoatom Concern N.Sorokin presented a group of employees with Rosenergoatom awards and certificates.

Representatives of the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy also presented their awards and certificates. Particularly, the chief engineer of the plant Konstantin Ozerov was decorated with “Academician Kurchatov” badge. 6 people were granted Rosenergoatom silver medal, 14 people – certificate of honor, 15 people a letter of gratitude from the Director General of Rosenergoatom Concern; 5 people were presented with a letter of gratitude of the head of Rosatom, 15 people – with a certificate of veteran of nuclear power industry; 56 people received a letter of gratitude of the director of Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant for their efficiency and diligence, 22 people – badges of the plant’s trade union for active participation in social projects.

The deputy director of Leningrad NPP N.Karrask, the acting head of the Administration of Bilibino district A.Simonov, the chief engineer of the Housing Maintenance and Utilities Board of Bilibino district A.Petrov and the head of the Education Department of Bilibino district N.Levashko congratulated the staff of the plant on the holiday.

The official ceremony was followed by a concert organized by the whole staff of the plant. For many years already such concerts have been directed by the head of the Security Service of the plant Sergey Ignatov and his bright talented team: O.Prorokov, L.Kozlov, I.Yakovlenko, A.Svistunova, N.Guseva, A.Vavilov, B.Apalkov, D.Khimchak, T.Annenkova, Y.Kuchegesheva, P.Linovitsky, L.Sobolevskaya, Y.Khakhulina, P.Agapov, N.Repin and many others.

Last weekend the deputy director general-the technical director of Rosenergoatom Concern N.Sorokin and representatives of the concern inspected Bilibino NPP. 

During a following conference the chief engineer of Bilibino NPP K.Ozerov made a report on the technical state of the plant. One of the key topics of the conference were the use of the existing and the design of new technologies for treatment of radioactive waste and spend nuclear fuel, the effective organization of preventive overhauls, measures for ensuring the safety of the plant and modernizing its control and protection systems.

The guests also visited the biggest and the most quickly developing gold deposit of the region, Karalveyem, and met with the managements of the operator company. The parties agreed to intensify their efforts to increase the consumption of electricity by Karalveyem Deposit OJSC.
