On Jan 10–11 2008 the operational headquarters for the construction of the 2nd unit of Volgodonsk NPP conducted its first meeting in 2008

The managers and senior specialists of the general contractor of the project, Nizhniy Novgorod Atomenergoproekt, the owner of the project Rosenergoatom, the Department for the Construction of Rostov NPP, Rosatomstroy, Atomtekhenergo, ATE, Rostekhnadzor, Atomenergomash, Orgenergostroy Institute, Hyrdopress, Volgodonsk NPP and contractor organizations took part in the meeting.

In 2007 the constructors mounted the reactor shell, concreted the cooling pond to a level of 35.5 and 70% of the floor of the central hall, built 182 of 837 compartments. Presently, they are building premises for technological, electric and load lifting equipment, have installed the frame, wall and the gate of the machine compartment, have concreted the supporting walls of the spray ponds.

The key tasks for Jan-Mar 2008 are to ship, assemble and install the hydraulic components of the main circulation pump, to ship and assemble the main circulation pipeline, to install steam generators.

By the end of 2008 the constructors are to install and adjust electric equipment for own needs, to assemble the turbine and the reactor, to install safety systems

The next meeting of the operational headquarters is scheduled for early Feb.
