Basketball tournament at Kalinin NPP

Junioratombasket-2008 basketball tournament was conducted at Kalinin NPP Jan 8–13

The tournament was dedicated to the memory of the honored coach of the USSR and Russia, Olympic champion Alexander Gomelsky and the honorary president of the Basketball Federation of Russia V.Kuzin.

Five teams from Moscow, Serpukhov, Khimki, Elektrostal and Udomlja took part in the tournament.

The team from Khimki was the best, the teams from Moscow was the second, from Elektrostal – the third.

Brother of Alexander Gomelsky, Yevgeny Gomelsky, was happy. “The key objective of the tournament is to popularize basketball and sports among children and teens. In some small cities you can see sports complexes you will not see in many big cities — Udomlia is one of them. Here you can find excellent sports facilities,” Gomelsky said.

While closing the tournament the advisor of the director general for youth, culture and sports of Rosenergoatom Concern Oleg Zhyoltov expressed hope that Udomlia and other nuclear cities would host many more such interesting events. He thanked the organizers for the tournament.
