Capacity of unit 4 of Balakovo NPP reduced

On Jan 17 1:27 PM the capacity of unit 4 of Balakovo NPP was reduced to 36%

The reduction followed the failure of two of the four circulation pumps due to problems with electric equipment.

The incident posed no threat to the safety of the plant and the nearby area.

Unit 4 is in service. As soon as the problem is removed, its capacity will be restored.

All four units of Balakovo NPP are in service and are operating at a total capacity of 3454MW.

The radiation background at Balakovo NPP and in the nearby area is within norm.
