In Jan 2008 the managers of Bilibino NPP had several meetings with the plant’s personnel
In Jan 2008 the managers of Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, led by the director of the plant Farit Tukhvertov, held à number of meetings with the personnel in order to understand their problems and wishes.
Tukhvertov informed his employees about the performance of Bilibino NPP in 2007 and the prospects of the plant employing almost 800 people.
Three remarkable events took place in 2007: Bilibino NPP was proclaimed the best NPP in Russia in safety culture; fulfilled its electricity production and supply plans; and hosted Atom-2007 tactical exercise with a view to improve its interaction with anti-terrorism forces.
In 2007 the plant significantly introduced a number of economic improvements: considering the low solvency of the manufacturing enterprises and the population of Chukotka Autonomous Okrug the plant asked the Government to provide it with a subvention in order to compensate for the difference between the economical and scheduled electricity tariffs. In July 2007 the Government of CAO, the Ministry of Industry and Energy of the Russian Federation and the Federal Tariff Service instructed the region to gradually reduce the economical electricity tariff.
In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to increase the electricity consumption in Chaun-Bilibino energy system. Today, there are three reliable and solvent consumers: Kupol, Mayskoye and Karelveem mines. In the framework of the federal target program for the social and economic development of the Far East and Zabaikalye region, in order to ensure stable supply of electricity, the regional authorities are planning to reconstruct the existing aerial circuits and to lay a 110 kV power transmission line for connecting Bilibino NPP with operating mines.
«Our task for 2008 is to learn to effectively plan our work, to reduce our costs and enhance our profitability. If we do it, we will be able to carry out repairs, to modernize our equipment and to solve the social problems of our employees. You work well but our goal is to work even better, our goal is to be the best,» Tukhvertov said.
The sides discussed different problems: from remuneration and holiday pay to uniforms and special food. Tukhvertov said that in order to effectively solve the problems of the personnel, it was necessary to improve management and planning. «We have had a constructive dialogue and we are going to solve all the problems we have discussed,» Tukhvertov said.
