Leningrad NPP: Jan 14–21 2008

Production

Last week, Jan 14–21 2008, Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant operated safely and efficiently.

Since the beginning of this year the plant has generated 1.404bln KWh or 100.6% of the plan.

Presently, unit 1 is operating at a capacity of 1031 MW.

Unit 2 is operating at a capacity of 1020 MW. On Jan 20 the capacity of the unit was reduced to 810MW on the request of the plant and was restored at 6:10 PM the same day.

Unit 3 is being modernized. The personnel are completing the repair of the welded joints of pipelines and are washing the oil systems of turbines 5 and 6.

Unit 4 is operating at a capacity of 1020MW.

Personnel training

227 employees were trained last week, particularly, they were taught how to modernize nuclear power units, how to prevent fire, how to protect labor and how to ensure on-site safety.

One guide was issued last week.

Social and personnel policy

9 people were employed by the plant last week. 8 people are undergoing employment procedure.

No people were attested last week.

47 employees were sent to Kopanskoye sanatorium for rehabilitation.

The team of Leningrad NPP took part in the 3rd round of the Mini-Football Championship of Russia in the North-Western region.

A group of students from Novovoronezh College are expected to come to Leningrad NPP for probation today.

Financial-economic activities

Last week the Financial-Economic Department continued preparation of report for 2007.

The department continued registering state property and received two certificates confirming the plant’s ownership over facilities formed as a result of downsizing.

Physical safety, international and information activities

Last week Leningrad NPP operated safely with no incidents recorded.

The information department organized and conducted traditional meeting of the director and top managers of the plant with regional and local journalists. The head of Leningrad NPP-2 also took part in the meeting. After the press-conference the journalists visited Leningrad NPP and the construction site of LNPP-2.

Results

As of today, Jan 21 2008, Rosenergoatom NPPs are operating 28 units and 45 turbine generators, which are working at a total capacity of 21.6GW against planned 21GW. Since the beginning of this year the plants has generated 9.9bln KWh.

On Jan 17 2008 Rosenergoatom Concern registered the first incident: short circuit and stoppage of main circulation pumps at Balakovo Nuclear Power Plant. The incident was caused by ineffective paint activities. Three employees have been fired.

The key tasks for the next week – Jan 21–28 2008 are:

— to speed up the overhaul of unit 3;

— on Jan 25 the heads of departments are meeting at Kopanskoye sanatorium to sum up the results of their work in 2007.
