Schoolchildren from Poliarnye Zori take part in quiz on nuclear energy

The winners of a quiz on nuclear energy were awarded at the Information Center of Kola NPP on Jan 25 2008

The quiz took place in late Dec 2007 on the occasion of the Day of Power Engineer. Almost 300 schoolchildren from Poliarnye Zori took part in the event. The 60 best were granted certificates and presents.

“Our children are showing growing interest in the work of Kola NPP and are eager to display their talents and knowledge. The contestants were asked the questions beforehand so they could get ready for the quiz: visit the children’s library, read books and consult their parents. The children answered the questions in written form,” says the engineer of the Information Department of Kola NPP Natalia Shastina.

Experts say that the questions were quite difficult. They were divided into two categories: 20 questions for the pupils of 5th-8th forms and 30 questions for the pupils of the 9th-11th forms. The children showed good erudition and deep knowledge and answered most of them.

The students of the Children’s Nuclear Academy, established in Poliarnye Zori in Dec 2007, were the best. The pupil of the 8th form of school #1 Yekaterina Sapunova and the pupil of the 10th form of special school #4 Andrey Darov showed the highest scores.
