Employees of Smolensk NPP granted government awards

A group of employees of Smolensk NPP have been granted government awards

On Jan 25 2008 the governor of Smolensk region Sergey Antufyev presented a group of employees of Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant with government awards for courage and self-sacrifice during the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident in the 1980s. “Today, I am fulfilling the President’s instruction. We have lots of talented and devoted people on Smolensk land and they show excellent results in many spheres,” Antufyev said while decorating the awardees with the Medal “For Rescue of Perishing People.”

The medal has been granted to the following employees of Smolensk NPP:

Alexander Besprozvannykh – electrical fitter of Nuclear Safety Department;

Vladimir Gaydarov – senior foreman of Maintenance and Construction Department;

Sergey Golik – deputy head of Reconstruction and Safety Enhancement Department;

Vladimir Dermenzhi – senior operator of Turbine Department;

Vitaly Kamenev – assistant to the director of Smolensk NPP;

Alexander Kolesnikov – deputy head of Reconstruction and Safety Enhancement Department;

Mikhail Nikolayev – operator of Reactor Department;

Sergey Spirin – head of Reconstruction and Safety Enhancement Department;

Mikhail Stepanov – advisor of the director of Smolensk NPP;

Vladimir Fyodorov – deputy head of Planning Department;

Ivan Shabotenko – electrical fitter of Reactor Department.
