Rosatomstroy and WGII present quarterly report on the reconstruction of Seversk Thermal Power Plant

15.02.2008 // PR Department of Rosatomstroy ICC

On Jan 31 2008 Rosatomstroy ICC and WGII submitted to the US Department of Energy a quarterly report on the reconstruction of Seversk Thermal Power Plant

The report presented the achievements and problems of the parties to the project in Oct-Dec 2007. Seversk Plutonium Production Elimination project is part of Russian-US agreement for replacement of ADE-4 and ADE-5 reactors.

In Oct-Dec 2007 the parties carried out a 72-hour testing of turbine 10 and boiler plant 21, launched on Dec 29–30 night. Shortly, the parties are planning to launch boiler plants 5, 16 and 18.

Besides, the third northern heating main was switched to network water circulation regime. This will allow the parties to test it in Mar 2008. The only problem the parties faced in the fourth quarter of the last year was the lack of construction and installation personnel.

Note:

The reconstruction of the Seversk TPP is part of Seversk Plutonium Production Elimination Project. The objective of that project is the refurbishment of the existing fossil fuel plant and the shutdown of the two remaining plutonium production reactors in Seversk by 2008.

The parties to the project are Rosatomstroy, Washington Group International Inc and Siberian Chemical Plant
