Representatives of Administration of Chukotka Autonomous Okrug have visited Bilibino NPP
On Feb 15 the head of the administration of Bilibino district R.Kopin, the head of the sports and tourism department of Chukotka Autonomous Okrug L.Nikolayev and the chief engineer of communal department of Bilibino Municipal District A.Petrov visited Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant and attended an operational conference chaired by the director of the plant F.Tukhvertov.
Kopin told Tukhvertov about the results of the work of his staff in 2007 and about their plans to develop the Chaun-Bilibino energy system.
He confirmed the decision to build 100 KV air lines between Bilibino NPP and Kupol deposit in the framework of the federal target program for social and economic development of Far East and Trans-Baikal region. He also said that the administration of Chukotka was ready to finance the project to build a sports complex in Bilibino.
Nikolayev made a report on the plans to develop the economy of the region and to improve the quality of the life of local residents. Particularly, the authorities of Chukotka are going to improve the transport system of the region, to modernize its housing fund and power networks, to intensify trade and to reconstruct schools.
The sides also discussed the problems related to the heat and water supply of Bilibino.
For 34 years already Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant has been the key supplier of energy for Chaun, Bilibino and Nizhnekolymsk industrial districts. The plant is ready to produce and supply heat and electricity to all concerned consumers on commercial basis. The plant is ready to work at full capacity to meet the growing energy demand of Chaun-Bilibino energy system.
In conclusion, Tukhverov said: “One can’t develop industry without enhancing living standard. The attention of our authorities to the needs of our people inspires hope that our life will get better and that our country has good future.”
