Construction of substituting capacities is confidence in future

The governor of Leningrad region V.Serdukov visited Leningrad NPP on Feb 21

Today, Feb 21, representatives of manufacturing companies of Sosnovy Bor met to sum up the results of the past year. The governor of Leningrad region V.Serdukov was present at the meeting. He also visited a number of local companies, particularly, Leningrad NPP.

While meeting with representatives of Leningrad NPP Serdukov said that in 2007 Leningrad region made substantial achievements due to the stable work of Leningrad NPP.

“We fulfilled all of our tasks. We showed quite good growth in the industrial production and the gross regional product. Today, per capita gross product in the region is much higher than the average GDP in Russia. If in Russia this index is 300,000 RUR a month, in St.Petersburg – it is 360,000 RUR, in Moscow region – 270,000 RUR and in Leningrad region – as much as 397,000 RUR. In 2007 Leningrad region produced goods and services worth 280bln RUR (against 47bln RUR in 2000). The region is actively developing new technologies, building new factories, i.e. is attracting investments in the real sector. As a result, in 2007 its budgetary revenues made 48.5bln RUR (against 38bln RUR in 2006).”

“Such a good growth allows us to solve many social problems, particularly, to improve the living standard in the region. For three years already we have not received government subsidies. We are independent in deciding in what direction to move.”

“The program for the economic and social development of Leningrad region in 2008–2015 is a guarantee that our economy will be steadily growing as it did in the last years — by 10%-14% a year. This is a hard task but we must do it if we want to achieve our goal: to have a budget of 70bln RUR.”

“Leningrad NPP has certainly made a big contribution to the development of the region. Your plant is stable and efficient. I am grateful to you for your work. The construction of substituting capacities is a guarantee that our youths will have jobs and confidence in the future,” Serdukov said.
