Medal has found its hero
On Feb 21 2008 the governor of Smolensk region S.Anufriyev presented the gas welder of Supporting Systems Department of Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant Sergey Alexandrov with Medal “For Saving Perishing People.”
On July 11 2005 Alexandrov was returning to his office after launch and heard somebody calling for help. He followed the voice and saw two eight-year-old children drowning in the cooling pond of the plant. He jumped into the water and saved them. Now three years after his exploit, Alexandrov has received a deserved award.
The same day the governor presented the head of the medical-sanitary unit #135 of Desnogorsk Ivan Gubin with Order of Honor or his labor achievements.
Council of Veterans and Pensioners of Smolensk NPP sums up the results of 2007
On Feb 20 2008 the Council of Veterans and Pensioners of Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant met to sum up the results of 2007. While opening the meeting the chairman of the Inter-Regional Organization of Veterans of Rosenergoatom Concern May Khatin said: “One of the key prerequisites of success for any company is the social security of its employees even after their retirement. Today, I have seen that your administration cares for you. So, you have achieved your goal. Your organization is very active and enjoys respect among the employees of Smolensk NPP. You are actively engaged in the discussions of the plant’s collective agreement and social programs.”
As of Jan 1 2008 the Council of Veterans and Pensioners of Smolensk NPP had 1,640 members. Due to its close cooperation with the administration and the trade union of the plant, the Council effectively solves the problems of pensioners. In 2007 1,126 pensioners received material support. The Council takes an active part in the drafting of collective agreement. Last time it pushed ten provisions concerning the social support of unemployed pensioners.
