Rosatomstroy ICC has taken part in Raytheon’s reporting to US DOE on the work done under Zheleznogorsk project in Oct-Dec 2007
Rosatomstroy was represented by the head of the Construction Department Nikolay Trishkin, the head of the Tender and Marketing Department Aleksey Yakovlev and the manager of the project Andrey Lobashev; the US Department of Energy – by an official of the National Nuclear Security Administration and the manager of the project Jeff Robertson; Raytheon Technical Service Company LLC — by the vice president David Dacquino and the manager of the project Douglas Meeker.
The parties discussed the results of Oct-Dec 2007, further actions under the project as well as possible problems like schedule delay, shortage of manpower, difficulties with purchase of equipment and materials.
The parties pointed out that certain progress was made during the accountable period. Particularly, the designing of the 1st and 2nd start-up complexes is near completion.
The installation of boilers was carried out according to the schedule. 14 inspections were conducted during the period. All of them confirmed the high professionalism of the personnel.
The parties were unanimous that the progress was the result of coordinated effort of all the companies involved in the project.
Note:
The construction of Zheleznogorsk coal-fired power plant is part of Seversk Plutonium Production Elimination Project. The objective of that project is the refurbishment of the existing fossil fuel plant and the shutdown of the two remaining plutonium production reactors in Seversk by 2008.
The parties to the project are Rosatomstroy, Washington Group International Inc and Siberian Chemical Plant.
Raytheon Company has been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to oversee the project.
