On Mar 14 2008 unit 2 of Balakovo NPP showed all-time high 104% capacity

It was the result of the hard work of the whole staff of the unit.

One of the top priorities of Balakovo Nuclear Power Plant is enhancement of the capacity of its reactors to 104% of nominal level and extension of their fuel cycle to 18 months. Since 2000 the plant has been steadily working to enhance the capacity factor of its units.

As a result, Rosenergoatom Concern selected the 2nd reactor of Balakovo NPP to be the first to enhance its capacity to 104%. In 2006 Rosenergoatom adopted a program to enhance electricity production at its nuclear power plants in 2007–2015. The Concern set tough deadlines and Balakovo NPP is working hard to meet them.

In 2007 the plant carried out preparatory work: it drafted design documentation, obtained Rostekhnadzor’s license, launched pre-separation units of the reheating systems of the 1st and 2nd reactors, upgraded its reactor control systems and reloader control systems, submitted all necessary documents to get new Rostekhnadzor license for operating unit 2 at higher capacity.

These achievements are the result of well-organized and coordinated efforts of Rosenergoatom Concern, Balakovo NPP, Hydropress Experimental Design Bureau and Atomenergoproekt Federal State Unitary Enterprise.
