It is the second visit of Kazakh nuclear specialists to Udomlia in the last few years. As you may know, Kazakhstan has the world’s biggest uranium resources and all necessary infrastructure for developing own nuclear power industry. That’s why Kazakhstan is very much interested in Russia’s experience of NPP construction and operation. “Presently, Kazakhstan is about to decide to build its own nuclear power plant. The Parliament will have final say on the matter. That’s why among our delegates are not only representatives of the National Nuclear Center but also members of the parliament and the vice governor of Mangistaus, then region where we are planning to build the plant,” the chairperson of the board of the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan Irina Tajibayeva said.

After visiting the 3rd reactor of Kalinin NPP, the construction site of the 4th reactor and the PR Center of the plant, the guests met with the chief engineer of Kalinin NPP Mikhail Kanyshev and the head of Udomlia district Alexander Kushnaryov. The parties discussed the social and PR projects carried out by Rosenergoatom Concern and Kalinin NPP.

The guests thanked the hosts for their hospitality and pointed out that Kalinin NPP was a highly efficient modern plant. Tajibayeva said that the Russian-Kazakh program for cooperation in peaceful uses of nuclear energy was being successfully implemented. The decision of the Kazakh authorities to build a nuclear power plant will give a new impulse to this cooperation. The parties expressed strong commitment to develop and strengthen their cooperation.
