Young sportsmen from Kurchatov have won seven different medals at the Special Winter Olymic Games of Russia
Four representatives of the Rehabilitation Center for Handicapped Children and Youths of Kursk Nuclear Power Plant took part in the snowshoe marching events.
The Special Winter Olympic Games of Russia took place in St.Petersburg on Mar 10–16 under the aegis of the Federal Agency for Physical Culture and Sports and Governor of St.Petersburg Valentina Matviyenko. Almost 500 young sportsmen from 33 regions of the country took part in the games.
The Kursk sportsmen took part in the 100 m and 200 m races and 4X100 m relay race. Yevgeny Liamtsev won two silver medals. His brother Yuri Liamtsev, Diana Solgalova and Natalia Nabiulina also won medals. Their instructor Viktor Pikalov is satisfied with the results: the hard work of the center is giving fruits.
«The contribution of Kursk NPP, which, together with the administration of Kurchatov, set up the Rehabilitation Center in 1998, to the medical, social and labor rehabilitation of handicapped children is really invaluable. Rosenergoatom Concern is always ready to help us in our work. The achievements of our center at the Special Winter Olympic Games have proved that we are not working in vain,» says the head of the center Natalia Kitsul.
