A delegation of members of Duma and journalists of Kaliningrad region visited Kalinin NPP on Mar 25–26

The key objective of the visitors was to familiarize themselves with the best NPPs in Russia. The guests visited the Public Relations Center and the Training Center of the plant as well as the machine compartment and the control panel of the 3rd unit.

The guests also met with the director of Kalinin NPP Leonid Martynovchenko and the head of Udomlia district Alexander Kusharyov, who told them about the problems of safety and environment protection and the positive experience of cooperation between Kalinin NPP and Udomlia Administration.

The vice speaker of the Duma of Kaliningrad region Konstantin Poliakov said that they were really proud to learn that Russia had so modern and efficient NPPs. “We have seen that your plant is very safe and complies with all modern standards,” Poliakov said.

He said that Kaliningrad region is developing very dynamically and needs additional energy. And now that many EU countries are beginning to actively develop nuclear energy, the authorities of Kaliningrad region decided to see what NPP is and if it is an effective and safe source of energy.

The guests are going to use the information received during the visit when discussing the energy development program of Kaliningrad region.
