Information Center of Volgodonsk NPP was opened on Mar 28

The opening ceremony consisted of presentation, excursion and press-conference.

Among the guests were the head of the Information and PR Center of Rosenergoatom Concern A.Nasibov, the mayor of Volgodonsk V.Firsov, the speaker of Volgodonsk Duma O.Strukov, the heads of the nearby villages, representatives of local and regional mass media, public organizations, students.

The opening of the center – a modern beautiful building in the very heart of Volgodonsk – has become an important event in the life of the city. Rosenergoatom Concern and its nuclear power plants have always cared for the opinion of the public and regarded public control as a guarantee of their safe performance.

The director of Volgodonsk NPP A.Palamarchuk pointed out that the opening of the Center was one more proof that Rosenergoatom Concern, in general, and Volgodonsk NPP, in particular, were open to the public and adherent to high safety standards.

The guests were impressed with the Center’s information and exhibition complex. It is a perfectly designed and equipped source of information. Over 1,000 people have already visited the complex so far: schoolchildren from Volgodonsk and Tsimliansk, employees of Savings Bank, students of Militia School, workers of Volgodonsk NPP and their families, representatives of different public organizations.

The hosts also presented the internet-source of Volgodonsk NPP – its web-site.

Then the guests went to the sanatorium of Volgodonsk NPP and saw its unique physiotherapeutic and diagnostic equipment complying with highest standards of restorative medicine. Care for the health of employees is part of the corporate culture of Volgodonsk NPP and important aspect of its work.

The following press-conference was held in a big conference hall. The head of the Information and PR Center of Rosenergoatom Concern A.Nasibov said that the Center was “a drop of fresh water”: “We are proud that our nuclear power plants are among the safest in the world and that for five years already we have had no single incident. Our task is not just to preserve this situation but to constantly enhance our safety. Volgodonsk Nuclear Power Plant is one of the best in our country. This is an organization of high social efficiency and its Information Center will become a place where one will be able to get objective information about the work of the plant and its safety.”

Mayor of Volgodonsk V.Firsov pointed out the importance of the Center for the city. He said that it was a competent source of information about the work of the plant.

Meanwhile, the Information Center of Volgodonsk NPP is expected to become a place for exchange of views, a venue for different kinds of conferences and forums, a tribune for discussion of the problems of the city and the plant. It will certainly play an important role in the life of Volgodonsk and Don region. So, we say: “Our doors are open. Welcome to the Information Center!”
