“Territory of Culture of Nuclear Industry” contest sets off in Ozyorsk

Contest among theaters of closed administrative territorial units and NPP satellite cities “Territory of Culture of Nuclear Power Industry” has set off in Ozyorsk

The contest was announced by Rosatom Public Council in late 2007.

The objective of the contest is to support drama and music groups in closed administrative territorial units and satellite cities of nuclear power plants. All theaters, culture clubs, art studios and drama companies from the above-mentioned areas are invited to take part in the contest.

The jury comprises the head of the Department for Work with Public Organizations and Regions of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Igor Konyshev, professor of the Russian Academy of Theater Arts Alexander Smolyakov and the art director of Underwater Theater Alexander Kuranov.

Four groups are taking part in the Ozyorsk round — two of them are professionals and the other two amateurs: Drama and Comedy Theater with “Persian Lilac,” Puppet Show with “Dead Beast,” Operetta Company with “Night in Venice” and Troupe of “Constructor” Culture Palace with “Simpleton and Educated One.”

The results of the contest will be summed up in the autumn. The winners will get grants for staging new projects.
