Traditional press-conference at Kursk NPP

Traditional meeting of the managers of Kursk NPP with representatives of regional mass media took place at the House of Journalists of Kursk region on Apr 17

Representatives of 4 regional TV channels and over 20 regional newspapers took part in the meeting. The chief engineer of Kursk Nuclear Power Plant Alexander Uvakin told the journalists about the work and plans of his company. He pointed out that Kursk NPP was safe and efficient.

The deputy chief engineers Vladimir Pereguda and Sergey Polianskikh reported on the results of the program to modernize and to extend the lives of the 1st and 2nd units of Kursk NPP.

Pereguda presented visual materials about design, legal, engineering, installation and start-up operations carried out at the 1st and 2nd units and to be carried out on the 3rd and 4th units.

Polianskikh told the journalists about the global tendency for extending the lives of existing nuclear power plants. He said that Kursk NPP was constantly upgrading its operating and safety systems and used innovative high-tech materials and equipment for effective testing, protection, electricity production and supply.

The head of the Ecological Service of the plant Aleksey Trubnikov made a report about the ecological policy of Kursk NPP and its effects on the environment.

After the reports the journalists asked lots of questions. Particularly, they wanted to know when the construction of the 5th unit would be completed. Uvakin and his deputies gave detailed answers to all of their questions.
