Smolensk NPP: 1st unit is being prepared for planned maintenance

On Apr 25 the 1st unit of Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant will be stopped for 15-day planned maintenance: repair of the radiation control, fire response, automated, control and measuring systems; repair of pumps and fittings; welding; testing of metal and welded joints. 

On Apr 2 Smolensk NPP set up a maintenance committee, which is supposed to make necessary preparations for the maintenance, control its conduct and to supervise the restart of the unit. The chairman of the committee is the chief engineer of Smolensk NPP Mahmud Ahmetkereyev.
