The foundation stone of kiot has been consecrated at Volgodonsk NPP

“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it…”

On Apr 19 Volgodonsk Nuclear Power Plant started the mid-term maintenance of its 1st unit. According to tradition, each maintenance campaign is blessed by the Church.

On Apr 21 archpriest Sergiy Sklryarenko, the dean of Volgodonsk parish, served a prayer service for the campaign to pass successfully.

The director of Volgodonsk NPP Alexander Palamarchuk, the chief engineer of the plant Andrey Salnikov, his deputy for maintenance Ivan Malakhov, advisor Alexander Murashev and other managers of the plant attended the prayer.

After the service the priest went around the plant and sprinkled the equipment stopped for maintenance and the maintenance personnel with holy water.

The great believer of the Russian land Ioann of Konshtadt wrote last century: «No single raindrop shall fall without the will of Lord and He knows their number. Everything is done through his will.» So, the drops of holy water sprinkled at the equipment will be that very blessing that is given to people when they strongly wish something. And the successful completion of this year’s maintenance campaign will be the fruit of their faith, knowledge and deeds.
 
The asperges was followed by the consecration of the foundation stone of the kiot – an icon-case – placed near the gates of the plant. “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it…”

Icons of the Savior and the Virgin will be placed in the kiot. Icon is a union of divine and best human energies. So, it has become a good tradition to place kiots in belief that they will save us from troubles and grieves.
