“May Always Be the Sun!”: contest of children’s drawings
“A disc of the Sun with blue skies around – that’s what he drew in his picture ” For many years this kind song was the anthem of the lucid dream of peace in each family and all over the world.
A contest of children’s drawings “May Always Be the Sun!” has been announced in Angarsk on the occasion of the International Children’s Day (June 1). All children from 2 to 14 may present their drawings about peace, friendship, mutual understanding and support among nations. The organizer of the contest is the International Uranium Enrichment Center, set up on the initiative of President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
The point of Putin’s initiative was to create a model of global infrastructure providing equal access to all concerned countries to the benefits of the peaceful use of nuclear energy and guaranteeing the compliance with the nonproliferation regime. The key element of this infrastructure will be a network of international centers providing nuclear fuel cycle services, including uranium enrichment and spent nuclear fuel treatment. These centers will function on a nondiscriminatory basis under IAEA’s control.
Kazakhstan and Armenia have already joined the Angarsk Center. The Center will provide them with uranium production for use for peaceful purposes with no access to enrichment technologies. Several more countries are now considering the possibility of joining the center.
The young residents of Angarsk have an excellent chance to support Russia’s initiative to strengthen peace on the globe. All they have to do is to make a drawing and to submit it to the organizing committee. Each applicant may submit three drawings. On the reverse of the A4 sheet he/she should specify his/her name, age, the title of the drawing, home address and phone.
The application deadline is May 12.
The works should be sent to 22 December 14 Street, Angarsk (the building of the Training Center of Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine, room 222).
The awarding ceremony is scheduled for May 17. The best works will be shown to whole Angarsk. The children will get lots of gifts.
We wish you good luck, kids! And see you soon!
