1st unit of Smolensk NPP stopped for maintenance

The 1st unit of Smolensk NPP was stopped for 16-day maintenance on Apr 25 night

During the maintenance the plant is planning to repair the equipment of its turbine, electric and chemical departments and its automated control systems and to inspect its pipelines.

The maintenance personnel of Smolensk NPP and its contractor organizations are ready to carry out the campaign properly.

The 2nd and 3rd units are in service and are operating safely and efficiently.

The radiation background at Smolensk NPP and in the nearby area is within norm.
