Sosnovy Bor to mark two holidays

On Mar 1 Sosnovy Bor will mark the Day of Spring and Labor and its 35th birthday

The holiday will start with a carnival. Employees of Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant will also take part in the festivities. The procession will be followed by a concert.

In his congratulation address to the employees of Leningrad region and the residents of Sosnovy Bor the director of Leningrad NPP V.Lebedev says:

“Today we no longer doubt that Sosnovy Bor has bright and happy future. We are starting the construction of substituting capacities and are recruiting a generation of young, energetic and fanatic people, most of whom were born here and have acquired our best traditions. No doubt that they will try to make our city even more beautiful and comfortable.”

Note

Sosnovy Bor is the youngest city of North-Western Russia. It is situated on the shore of the Gulf of Finland amid pine woods. Some 66,600 people lived in Sosnovy Bor as of Apr 1 2007.

The past, present and future of Sosnovy Bor is closely linked with Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant. Sosnovy Bor is not only an atom city, it is a big research and construction center.

There are almost 500 big, medium-sized and small companies in Sosnovy Bor. They specialize mostly in manufacturing, construction, research, transport and communication.
