Cathedral built with the support of Rosenergoatom Concern has held its first Easter service

It has become a tradition for Rosenergoatom Concern to support culture, sports and religion. Since its establishment in 1992 the Concern has actively supported projects to restore or build Orthodox churches.

For many years already Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, just like the other Russian NPPs, has been actively engaged in social-cultural and benevolent activities. The plant helps veterans, Chernobyl liquidators, orphans and different NGOs and benevolent foundations. One of its biggest social projects is the construction of the Cathedral of Seraphim of Sarov in Bilibino. Last weekend the Cathedral held its first Easter service.

The construction of the cathedral was started in 2002. It was then that the parties to the project established a Foundation for Support of the Construction of Cathedral of Seraphim of Sarov, which still continues receiving donations from believers.

The charitable activities of Bilibino NPP receives wide response and support from the authorities of Bilibino. The latter helped it to improve the territory of the Cathedral: to build a square, to plant flowerbeds and trees. In the autumn the parties to the project are planning to illuminate the Cathedral.

The Russian Orthodox Church is grateful to Rosenergoatom Concern for its support: most of the Russian nuclear power plants already have churches and cathedrals.
