Leningrad NPP: May 12–19 2008
Production
Last week – May 12–19 2008 – Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant operated safely and efficiently with just one event registered during the period: the 3rd unit was stopped by its automatic capacity reduction system while being tested after restart on May 15.
Since the beginning of 2008 Leningrad NPP has generated 10.024bln KWh or 99.9% of the plan (9.6mln KW less than planned).
In May 2008 the plant fulfilled 97.7% of the plan.
Last week the 1st unit operated at an average capacity of 1,040MW with no stoppages registered during the period.
The 2nd unit operated at an average capacity of 1,010MW. The capacity of the unit was reduced by 200MW on May 13–15 and on May 18 as part of the campaign for restarting the 3rd unit. The general average capacity remained unchanged.
The 3rd unit was restarted: its equipment and automatic systems were being tested while the capacity was gradually increased. On May 12–13 the unit operated at a capacity of 500MW. On May 13 at 08:15 PM the capacity of the unit was raised to 700MW due to the restart and synchronization of the 6th turbine generator. On May 15 the maintenance personnel of the unit began to test its automatic safety system: they imitated the shutdown of the 5th turbine generator to see how the system would respond. The testing detected some defects and the automatic capacity reduction system stopped the unit. The defects were removed and the unit was restarted. On May 17 at 02:46 PM the capacity of the reactor was raised to the minimum controlled level. At 08:59 PM the 5th turbine generator was synchronized with the energy system. Presently, the unit is operating at a capacity of 700MW. Its equipment is being tested and the unit is being prepared for full capacity operation.
The 4th unit was stopped for short-term maintenance on May 18 at 11:59 AM.
Social and personnel policy
11 people were placed in jobs last week with 9 people undergoing employment procedure.
On May 14–16 Leningrad NPP hosted a corporate conference on social-labor and personnel issues of Rosenergoatom Concern. The management of the Concern has thanked the plant for the excellent organization of the conference.
