About the work of Novovoronezh NPP May 4–17 2008

Last week units 3, 4 and 5 Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant operated at respective capacities of 246MW, 423MW and 1,005MW.

On May 10 2008 after midnight the 9th turbine generator of the 3rd unit of the plant was stopped for overhaul. The overhaul will last till July 3 and envisages repair of rotors of high and low pressure cylinders, oil system and generator.

The radiation background at the plant was within norm.

The averaged gamma background at the plant, in Novovoronezh and at the 20 points monitored by the Automated Radiation Control System sensors installed in 13 settlements of the 30-km zone was within 7.0–11.8 mRh, which within the limits typical of the Central European part of Russia (8–25 mRh).
